Union members took the stage at a Columbia town hall to demonstrate the need to organize and fundamentally restructure society to prioritize basic human rights. Local media misrepresented the Union, claiming they were there to just provide resources.

COLUMBIA, Pa. — A community town hall was held in Columbia Wednesday evening to address the affordability crisis affecting people across the country.

A panel discussion was held with local experts that included State Rep. Nikki Rivera (D-Lancaster) and Pa. District 11 U.S. Congressional candidate Nancy Mannion.

The experts addressed rising grocery, housing, basic utilities and healthcare costs. Event moderators said that working and hearing from people affected by the rising costs is crucial for working towards a solution.

"I think that we need to advocate for people so they can buy homes and live gainful lives here in Columbia," said Brad Chambers, an event moderator. "You do not have to sit there and suffer. There is a different way. There is a better path forward and some of that starts in our community."

Members of the National Union of the Homeless were also at the meeting to provide resources for attendees.
