Lancaster County PA Homeless Union Chapter

The Lancaster County Homeless Union Chapter is in partnership with the Historic Salem United Church of Christ in Columbia, PA and other community leaders in operating a food pantry and soup kitchen twice a week, coordinating a medical equipment rental program and organizing around the changes to SNAP.

What We Do:

• Outreach at the food pantry & soup kitchen
• Host community events, protest, and meetings
• Create our own media: writing, sharing stories and videos
• Share information, experiences and resources
• Attend and speak at local government meetings
• Organizing against the criminalization of homelessness and poverty
• “Revolutionary Lawyering” court support and advocacy for our members
  • Including eviction court, probation hearings, and any other moral support needed

Resources We Offer:

• Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen (see schedule & location below)
• Assistance with state benefit sign ups, renewals, appeals and work requirement exemptions. (Medicaid, SNAP, etc)
• Medical equipment
  • Walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs and benches, crutches, knee rovers, etc.

Resources We Don’t Have:

• We do NOT have funding to help with rent, security deposit, etc
• We are NOT landlords and don’t personally have available rooms or houses
• We do NOT operate a shelter and don’t have a place for people to stay
